After removing the radio, did anyone have to enter the radio code?

Default After removing the radio, did anyone have to enter the radio code?
Last time my radio was out, I popped it right back in and no radio code was needed. Is the radio code only needed when the radio is removed with the battery still connected?

I think you are right about that...(as long as the battery is still connected no code) but not sure
