Need advice on A4 stereo sub-woofer replacement
Did any one replace the stock sub with after market (same side and placement in rear dash)? If you did, which brand and model did you install? Is a separate AMP is recommened or using the stock AMP is good enough? How much did it cost and where to get them?
I want to get more bass and looking to upgrade the stock which is very weak. Please share your thoughts.

It's weak because of its design.
It's a "free air" sub which means it does not use an enclosure. You will get much better results with a good sub in a sealed or ported box wiht a better more powerfull amp to go with it.
If you dont want to give up too much space and spend too much money, look into a tube type of subwoofer that you can maybe strap up to the underside of the rear deck. Just make sure it's nice and tight so you wont get any rattles.

I'd recommend just going for a box too....
I just put 2 10" MTX subs in the trunk with an amp and it really sounds a million times better. The stock sub also fires downward, so there's not much room in that locationi for an aftermarket sub...I say if you're gonna upgrade the sub, go all out and get a box and amp
