Coolant temperature sensor!!!
Does anyone know why there are two sensors on the upper radiator hose i know that the one next to the combi valve is the actual one but theres another right next to the battery on that same hose what is it for?

My CEL has been on for about a month with the P1296 code for coolant temperature sensor so I replaced the first sensor you mentioned because it was only $17. It didn't fix the problem so I have to replace the 2nd which is going to cost around $200. I'll ask if the dealership knows why there are 2 when I'm there today.
