Audi RNS-E bluetooth pairing problem with iPhone X
Hi all,
I have a B5 S4 retrofitted with the RNS-E (8E0035192J) and the factory bluetooth control module (8P0862335L). It was working perfectly with my old iPhone 6s, but I have just upgraded to an iPhone X, and it would no longer auto-pair with the bluetooth module. I can go into the iPhone's Settings > Bluetooth and tap on the "Audi UHV 0000" entry, and it will pair up and work fine from there. But I shouldn't have to manually pair them (except the very first time, of course). My old iPhone 6s would auto-pair every time I get in the car and turn on the ignition.
I also tested an iPhone 7 and it can auto-pair fine too. So the problem appears to be with the iPhone X. I don't think it's a problem with Audi's bluetooth module, but I just want to check here to see if there are others with a similar problem, and potential solutions.
I searched other sites and forums on the web, and it appears that iPhone X has some major bluetooth issues. But the problems mentioned on those sites are not like what I'm experiencing...
For what it's worth, my iPhone X is now running iOS 11.2.5 (the latest as of this writing), the same version as what was running on my 6s and the 7 I tested.

Interestingly, my iPhone X began auto-pairing with the RNS-E bluetooth successfully as of 3 days ago, and so far it hasn't failed yet. I don't know what changed, I didn't do anything to "fix" it. It began working when it was still running iOS 11.2.5 , and continues to work after I updated to 11.2.6.
Strange huh. I'll see whether it stays that way.
