Concert II question
i just replaced my concert I FM/Cassette radio to a concert II player..
Everything works fine except when i turn on the switch of parking light (or headlight), the red button lights don't go on, the only thing is lit up is the center display (i know.. it's always on..)
And..does anyone know what this is for?
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/50880/audi-concert_ii-back.jpg">
When i removed my old concert I player, there's a wire that's screwed on the back of the unit, and when i put on the concert II this wire became useless since there's no spot to screw it on.. i'm thinking is that disabling the wire the reason why the light is not working?
Any thoughts? Thanks!!

A couple of answers here, and a question.
First, congrats on getting a 'Concert II' H/U to work in place of the 'Concert I'
You are the FIRST PERSON that has confirmed what I thought all along, that this is doable.
The wire that was on the 'Concert I' is simply a ground wire. If you are at all concerned about this, you cab cut the connector off, and wire it to one of the screws on the chassis.
Looking at the pale yellow connector on the pic of the rear here.
I think that could possibly be a connector for a cell phone antenna.
The H/U would integrate the antenna switch if the "PHONE" mode is activated.
Possibly. It does not relate to the lights in the H/U at all.

Look at the label for 'Concert I' here. There is a pin on the connector that goes to the dash lights, that should light the lamps in the new H/U.
You may also need to re-program your dash to use CANBus instead of the clock/enable/data wires. Go to Module 17, go to Adaption, check Channel 62. It will probably be set to 0. Set it to 1 to get the radio to work.
This may be affecting the lamps, who knows?

Re: A couple of answers here, and a question.
I've also upgraded a Concert I to Concert II and had same backlighting/dash display issues.
Jeff, to take your advice, how on earth do I reprogram the dash? Do I need the VAGXXX software?

Do you want backlight buttons?
Find Grundig carradio assistance. Ask if he can connect your Concert II to a CANBUS to PC interface and program the radio to alwais light button when is turned on...
Good luck!

Re: A couple of answers here, and a question.
I swapped out my Concert I for a Concert II yesterday at my local dealer (on a 2001 TTR). These are the kind of guys that will work on something until they figure it out. They spent a good 1.5 hours at no charge. At first the CD changer did not function, but they fixed that with a ground connection I believe.
Once I left, later it went into SAFE mode. I entered the code and corrected it, but today it went into SAFE mode again. Anyway around this? Has anyone else head this problem after the switch?
Also backlights and dash display are no longer functional. Has anyone tried Jeff's suggestions to get them to work properly?
