Default Continued cooling issue... Need answers.

Okay, so I continue to have my temp gauge move up to 1 bar above normal in idling conditions. After picking up the car following a timing belt, water pump, and thermostat change (which I was hoping was going to correct the problem) I was still experiencing the same issue. So I paid closer attention to the problem. Here is what is happening:

At normal operating temp and driving, sensor 49 shows around 97C. When idling, sensor 49 moves up to 102 (the gauge at this point is one bar above normal) and at the 102C mark, the two fans kick on and the temp moves back down to 97C and normal on the gauge. Is this just a bad sensor somewhere or do I have a problem more concerning.

Default Where are you living?

Try this: switch on the AC (everything in Auto) at your desired cabin temp. Look inside the engine bay: one fan should be running. At 105*C (IIRC) the standby fan should come on.

IF not, I'd have my dealer/indie look at the fam control modules on the topless one!

Default What issue?.....>>

This sounds like perfectly normal behavior to me. The car is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. It may be running a Few degrees hotter due to differences in the thermostat (did you use OEM?) but certainly not enough to worry about.

I'm just surprised that it overheats at all. None of my other cars (current or previous) have done this. And it's not like it's super hot outside... It's usually been around 71F. But if it's normal for the TT I guess that's fine.. It just concerned me.

Default anything over 112c is overheating in the TT>>>>

more than likely when your timing belt was done, they used a Wahler and not an OEM....Replace with OEM and you will see 4-5c lower temps across the board....

Believe me....the car is not overheating...

Default Yeah, but as a dummy, I also check to make sure all fans operate properly under all heat loads.

I was just covering some bases, I hope!

Default Yep...

They gave me back the old one which didn't appear to be in bad shape itself. It did have the plastic impellers though.
