Coolant leak driving me crazy!!
Hello fellas. I've been a on again off again member of various Audi TT forums and have gained much insight and information because of them. I am new to your community and have come here because I need your help and expertise.
I have a 2001 MK1 TT 225 6spd. It has undergone heavy modification and if anyone is that interested I can elaborate.
I have a coolant leak from a metal coolant line near the thermostat housing. It is not a leak from the thermostat neck or gasket. It appears to be a coolant bypass line for when the thermostat is closed. It does not leak while the vehicle is running, only while sitting cold. I have attached a picture of the area in question. Though it is not a picture of my car as I have not done any dis-assembly yet its a picture that accurately displays the spot the leak is coming from. I have tried to re-seat the part but it just moves back out. I'm totally confused as to how it is held in place or even what part this is for ordering a new one.
Any ideas?

Okay guys got it fixed.
Here's the fix:
The fitting in question is a pressure connection made by forcing the fitting into the cast part of the block. I used a long brass drift and a small hammer to "gently" tap the beveled edge of the metal hose and re-seat it into the block.
Bottom line is if your leaking from here find a long, thin, solid object, get a good angle on the fitting and tap it back into place.
I hope this helps someone someday because as it stands now I think this is the only write up like this for our cars right now.
