Police pounce in £20k drugs haul Feb 23 2005

SPECIALLY-trained police discovered drugs - believed to be heroin with a street value of £20,000 - after pulling over a sports car at Ainley Top.
A team of officers from the elite Drug and Organised Crime Group had been following the Audi TT along the M62 yesterday at around 4.30pm and forced the car off the motorway at Junction 24.
Detectives searched the car, which has a top-speed of 151mph, in the lay-by just off the roundabout and discovered two cigarette packets full of a substance believed to be heroin.
The investigation moved on to the Exley area of Halifax where officers uncovered more than £10,000, as well as suspected drug dealing equipment.
Two men were arrested and have been bailed.
Det Insp Andy Best said: "This is another contribution from West Yorkshire Police towards Operation Crackdown, the Government's national campaign which aims to increase the number of those arrested on suspicion of Class A drug-dealing offences.
"Operation Crackdown was launched in January and will run nationally until the end of March.
But in West Yorkshire this type of activity will continue until the last drug dealer in the county is convicted."
The Crackdown operations in West Yorkshire have so far led to 111 arrests.
Police have urged people to "Dob In A Dealer" and help them stop drug dealing become a massive problem in the county.
