Default Finally took the plunge for a Big Turbo and it's well worth it! 8500RPM upgrade soon...

Got a ATP GT2871R Eliminator Kit, installed with Revo BT and all supporting mods.

Approximately 300awhp. I can't believe my car can do that!

Total cost of upgrade is ~$3500.

Special Thanks to

Dave @ EcodeTuning
Jose @ EuroTechMotors
Joe @ IntensityTuned

For all their advice and help!

After talking to Dave at ECode, I may go the next step and rebuild my Pistons, Rods, Bearings, Intake/Exhaust Valves for a high rev 1.8T. Redline around 8500RPM. With this maintenance upgrade (My engine is 155K miles) to avoid $$$ repare cost paired with a GT71 turbo will be really sweet. But I just got a GT2871R so I probably go with only the rebuilding of my 1.8T Engine knowing that the engine can take a lot more.

Default So Revo has a BT kit for the 225? I thought they only had one for the 180... What hardware changes

are involved other than the turbo?

Default wonder if it would be adviseable to run this engine to that rpm, ever?

a few quick calcs put the piston speeds into Grand Prix engine territory. Certain death for a "driver"...

Default Well, >>

I know many folk have gone to very high rpm setups. I spoke with Danny @ KMD about going that route. He in turn asked Hans Dahlback in Sweden. Hans has > 15yrs experience grenading Audi / VW motors to see just how much they can take.
Hans' reply..." make sure he has a box in car to put all the broken pcs." Good enough for me. I'll stick with 7K rpm limit
