Default Got My but whipped by a VR6 Jetta

Hey last night I was returning from a car race here in *&%$#%$^ and I was met by a VR6 Jetta, got to a red light and we took off, good start! But after a while about 95 mph he got away and he kept getting away I could not catch him, so I did the good thing I flashed the lights and slowed down. Now what is the phone number for the Garret Chip. Hope to see him after the chip

Default Question for JJ-what gear were you in?

JJ,
What gear were you in at 95 mph? I lost a high end race to a hopped up Integra GS-R, but it was partially my fault. I stayed in 4th at around that speed (95 mph), but looking back on it the result was more noise than power. I think I would have faired better being in 5th and keeping it between the magical 3500 and 5300 RPM where she loves to pull. Next time...

Additionally, even a stock Jetta is a formidable foe, but a modified one would require something more from our TT's, like the chip you mentioned.

Wishing they brought out the 225's first...

Having owned a 96 VR6 Jetta and now the proud owner of a blue 180HP TT, I cannot understand why your race wasn't close. My impressions from driving both is that they have very similar straight line performance, but the TT dominates in handling. Did you have the handbrake on?

Hey Dave I think you have a point there I was changing gears close to the redline. That is a very valid point and I will use that reference in the future. I am still looking for the VR6 on the road

No I did'nt have the hand brake on and it was a straight a way highway. I think Ulrich has a point in changing gears earlier than the redline.
