A how-to guide to losing your gas cap (and Bailey review too...)
How to lose your gas cap:
-Install Bailey Valve
-Drive to gas station to fill up for test ride
-Get so excited to drive that you forget to replace gas cap after fueling
-Drive away at full throttle
-Lose cap somewhere
-%@^!
You will all be happy to know that the local auto parts store had a cap in stock that fits the TT for $5.94. Maybe now by check engine light will go out, since it went on after losing the cap. Boy do I feel stupid. I'll still order the Audi cap to replace this generic one, though.
If you're still with me, you probably want the dirt on my Bailey impressions. Some background: stock valve was "G" series, had 1100 miles on it. Seemed to be working fine-- no strange honk noises, slight chuff, and woosh of course. Slight surge at 1/4 throttle if I wasn't really steady with right foot-- maybe just how the Motronic applies/releases boost.
With Bailey (installed per AWE's directions)-- same woosh and slight chuff. Power seems a bit smoother. Other then that, no real difference, except I'll sleep well knowing my turbo won't be eating G valve guts for lunch someday.
G'nite.

DOH! ...on the gas cap. ;) Good analysis on Bailey, I too think it makes acceleration smoother.
Less "choppy" in 1st/2nd than with stock DV, but other than that, I really cannot tell the difference. Although I do not get the same "whoosh, whoosh" sound from turbo as when it was all new, I kinda miss that, it was cool!
