I'm a little confused on this thread. I just bought an 08 MK2 3.2 6spd and there is no arm rest on it. Should there be?
Assuming not, does Audi offer one?
Assuming not, how is the one pictured above mounted? Does it fit in the useless cell phone slot in the console?

That was my thought, no armrest. What I would call a padded hand brake, others are calling an armrest. And if my right humerous were six inches longer, I'd call it an armrest (and join the circus.)

Yes it does mount in the little tray on the console...see this link for actual mounting http://www.tt-armrest.com/tt-eng/installation.php

ok thanks for the detail....it looks slick, but man that's alot for an arm rest.
For some reason my used '08 didn't come with this little pad on the hand brake...though its a poor excuse for an arm rest either way.
bummer....
