Default Run flats and rims

I just picked up my 08 coupe-It was a dealer trade, and there were not many available so I accepted the 17 inch wheels which I was assured were all season run-flats. When I went to pick up the car I found it had 17 inch summer tires and a ridiculous "mobility kit." To top it off i was told if I use the mobility kit it will wreck the tire sensor so don't use it.

Te dealer claims they can not swap the tires for 17 inch all-season run flats because they require a special rim. It is my understanding that the newer version (SST) can use any rim, and it is just the older PAX system that can't.

Does anyone know if the standard 17 wheel can handle 17 run flats as I suspect they can (I can not imagine they use two different rims for this car.)

You're better off without run-flats.

Its a 3.2-I just want to be sure that I will not need new rims. I know they do not ride as well as summer tires, but my wife will be using the car and is not happy with the prospect of a flat tire and no spare.

Default When I picked up my 3.2 S Line my dealer tried to tell me I had run flats too>>>

I had to show him on the tire sidewall that they were not. It's amazing when you have to set the dealer straight on things they should already know.

And I agree with ReTTurnn (and most others) that the run flats are NOT the way to go.

Default I hate it when they know less than us consumers... Attention sales people out there...

LEARN YOU PRODUCTS...
I knew more about my TT than the entire dealership put together...
YIKES... it will never change... my apologies to the small percentage of good sales people...

Tire rack lists a pirelli PZero all season run flat at $195.00, or a michelin for $212. Anyone have any experience with ether?

As I said I know there are a lot of issues with run flats, but with no spare and my wife driving the car, I feel better with the run flat solution than the "mobility kit," solution.

What specific issues have you had or are you aware of with run-flats?

I had them on my BMW, as well as other cars and though the ride was a bit harsh, they seemed fine.
