17964 DTC and newbie hose/engine questions
I've got a 2000 a4 1.8tqm that is experiencing limp mode. I've just started getting a 17964 - Charge Pressure Control negative Deviation 35-10---Intermittent DTC. I can clear the code and drive fine for a bit, but if I get on the throttle and push the load on the car, I go into limp mode and eventually get the code again. No CEL, just limp with code.
I'm a newbie to this engine and car work in general. I understand this could be a hose leak, bad n75 valve, stuck bpv, or maybe something else (?). The car has a tt bpv, installed about a year ago.
Can someone post a pic of what hoses I should check? Also, I might do a throttle body cleaning and adaptation. I have Ross-Tech adaptation instructions, but need info on throttle body cleaning. To be honest, I wouldn't know a throttle body if I was looking at it.
It looks as though I should by the repair cd. Until I can get one delivered, I'm hoping to get enough info to check my hoses and clean my throttle body.
Also, I have registered vag-com software and can run other tests if they may help determine where the problem lies, but am not sure what numbers, results to check or what would be considered normal/adnormal.
ANY help in the right direction would be much appreciated. For now, I'm just driving granny style.
Thank you.
