Does the VCDS have any way of removing Component Protection?

Nobody has found one. AFAIK you need access to an Audi database ...
... of component serial numbers. Which kinda means it's not likely that anyone else will be able to remove component protection.

Technically its not a question of VCDS supporting it but rather of Audi giving you...
...the necessary security codes. The problem is quite similar to the immobilizer and it comes down to the same problem - the availability of the security codes.

Was the factory upfront explaining that you don't actually buy the entire car at the time of purchase, that the factory would retain functional ownership and effective control over most of the electrical controls and equipment fitted to your Audi? AFAIK, that fact isn't disclosed to buyers. Therefore, I believe it is grounds for a lawsuit. The security codes needed to access and reconfigure the Component Protection as desired by the owner, as the owner sees fit, should be made available on demand by the confirmed legal owner. Anything less, is denial of implied rights of ownership in accordance with established principles and practice regarding the full rights of ownership that are transfered to the individual new owner when the purchase transaction is concluded. The same legal principles apply to the Immobilizer also.
