Default 2010 Q7 Brake Replacement

Hello all, I just got off the phone with the dealer after my brakepad light came on and they quoted me $2,000.00 to replace rotors and brake pads. I am pretty confident I can do this myself but wanted to double check if there is anything I may need to know that is not part of a normal brake pad replacement. I had done the replacement on a 2000 A4 and it was pretty straight forward. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you for your time and support

Justin

It will be less than half that price for online parts. You should measure your rotors (thickness) in order to see if you need to replace them If you have electric parking brake you will need VCDS in order to replace rear brakes. It would be better to ask about this in Q7 forum. They would know specifics better.

Most OEM replacement pads are fine, and the major manufacturer rotors too (Textar, Jurid, pagid, brembo pads.. Zimmerman, Brembo, TExtar rotors...) Often price or shop becomes the determining factor. This assumes street use.

One thing you will need to deal with, i believe on a 2010 is the e-parking brake that requires a computer to instruct it to release so you can do the rears.

Do you have the factory repair manual or similar?

great info. I have a manual ebrake so should be good to go there. I was looking at Hawk pads and power sport ceramic pads any thoughts on quality?
