The inner CV joint bolts are called a triple-square. This is NOT a torx bolt and if you think you can use a torx bit and get away with it you are wrong. That's not to say somebody didn't do this job before and replace them with something else, such as a allen bolt. Buy this tool at NAPA, less than 10 bucks. Tool K-D 2305, made in the USA. When using it, place it in the bolt and then tap it with a hammer to set it. Then slip a deep socket over it and forcefully snap it to loosen. If you try to gradually loosen it you will round out the bolts. Then you'll be cutting it off or grabbing it with channel locks, or something so do it right. You will need some new ones most likely, so buy three or four. N-904-411-02 at Audi. The axle bolt is 27mm, I think. Go here http://www.12v.org/maintenance/repairs/frontsusp.php and scroll down to Drive Axle. There are some safety issues in this job so pay attention. If you loosen the axle bolt you MUST replace it. The axle bolt is only loosened or torqued tight with the wheels on the ground!! If any nut you remove has a locking plastic insert, you must replace it and probably the bolt as well. You will have 10-12 bucks worth of nuts and bolts in this job to do it properly. You will need a torque wrench capable of 148 ft-lbs. I use a lever type on this because it is cheap and you will then add another 90 degree turn any way. You will need a breaker bar and maybe a pipe over it for that. Buy a good click type torque wrench for the other nuts and bolts as you will need it in the future for other jobs. Oh, match the old axles to the new ones to check the length. This job is notorious for getting the wrong axles sent to you.
