Default Help! Engine Block Coolant Plug O-Ring

So I did a full gasket change on the car and i'm done but can't find the engine block coolant plug o-ring any where for the life of me. Tried my main parts spot, North Side Imports, and a whole bunch of Audi and VW dealers with no avail. I've read on different threads that you can just purchase a high temp o-ring from a hardware store or the likes. Has anybody done this? If so, what was the size and where did you find it? Any help would be great. I just want to get the beast up and running again before some major snow fall hits Chicago. Cheers!

Default Sizing the coolant drain O-ring...

Even though they may not physically have it, the dealers parts listing may have the size written in the part's description.

Good luck.

If you are referring to the plug in the block that requires the allen wrench to remove, the part number is N-904-520-02. List price $1.00. I know because I bought two so that I had a backup. I don't understand why so many people have trouble with their Audi dealer providing part numbers. I go in, they are friendly, they pull up the ETKA diagram and we select the part. If I have questions, they call in a mechanic to answer them. They order any piddly part I want, such as nuts and bolts, or plastic clips, no problem. I also confirmed Grillage's measurements - they are correct.

Default Thanks

Thanks everyone for chiming in on this. I was actually fortunate enough to have a VW/Audi parts guy go out of his way to call me back after he found some of the o-rings in the warehouse system as well at one of their other dealerships. By far the most helpful from all the parts guys i spoke too.

Hopefully the info you guys provided will help others searching down the road.

Cheers!
