Hood release handle snapped off
I just went to open my hood and the plastic release handle snapped completely off at its base. Ever since I bought the car a year ago, I thought this handle seemed particularly flimsy. Why wouldn't something like this be made out of metal or at least have metal on the inside? Seems there is now no way to open my hood. Hopefully a quick warranty repair but I could also see this being a complex and long repair for something that should be simple.
I am on a road trip away from an Audi dealer. Is there any way to open the hood without this handle?

Post #5. BUT. The plastic trim surrounding the hood release lever has to come off too to access the release cable. In your case, since the trim will still be in place, I’m not sure how it can be released without the lever.
Also, ECS tuning makes a billet lever. I actually checked it out today morning and contemplated buying one but I’m not sure I’ll keep my car past November (when my lease ends).
