I have a suspicion they sold me S4 rear calipers 8E0-615-423/4C instead of 8D0-615-423/4C
Just checked on Etka and 2001 is a year when both the D and the E models were available.
Might the E calipers still fit my B5 and be causing the symptoms of deep pedal travel and rear brake imbalance?
Do you know if the E calipers hold a bigger volume of liquid (bigger pistons and all)? This might be the reson for the longer pedal travel.

I know it's upsetting to spend money on a mod and not get the results you wanted but the sad news is
at this point, you're going to have to pay again...either to find another S4 caliper or put the A4 back on to see if clears the issue.
