Trunk BT : Caught a plastic bag in the latch while trying to close the trunk, now it won't connect

Default Trunk BT : Caught a plastic bag in the latch while trying to close the trunk, now it won't connect
and lock down when closed. Mechanism seems very simple, but when the trunk is closed, it does not completely latch and the trunk freely swings open. When pushed all the way down, the trunk is completely flush with the body so I know it is closing all the way. The "trunk open" warning light on the dash is continuously on as well.

try "unlocking" the trunk with the key

the problem isnt with it opening, it just wont latch when closed.

Default hmm, doesnt seem like the key button is connected now...no resistance when pushing
it in.

nevermind, key button is working fine. It just won't latch down when closed.

Default Simple, Press the button on the outside of the trunk, while pulling down on the latch that is shut..
it will release
