Default Trunk locked shut.

I went to open unlock and open my trunk yesterday and it was locked shut. I used the open trunk function on the key, the open trunk latch on the driver's door, did the foot under trunk thing and tried to open with the trunk handle. I had to drop the seats and reach inside the trunk and pull that trunk lock down to release the trunk. Closed the trunk again and same thing, nothing but manually reaching inside the trunk and pulling that latch works. Any ideas?

This is a long-shot, but are there any settings in the MMI that leave the trunk locked? Maybe for valet purposes? That's all I can think of.

I think I did see something like that in the MMI. Also the valet button is on the right side in the glove box, is it on?

If it is indeed the valet function it looks like it is quite a useless functiion if all you need to-do to get access to the trunk is bring down the back seat.....

You are supposed to lock the seats so they can't fold down easily according to the manual when using the valet button. This does not stop someone from using the emergency release under the rear seats apparently though (again, according to what I read, haven't verified myself).
