'02 A4 Climate Control Unit / Stereo Issues
Hey all!
My ECONOMY light stays on, on my climate control unit. There's no A/C due to that I believe. Any thoughts of a resolution for that?
ALSO my stock stereo is freaking out like a meth addict in rehab! The stock stereo decides to start changing settings on it's own. Flipping stations, volume, balance, bass and treble. RESULT - No buttons on the stereo work not even the volume!!! BUT I can still manually change stations with the ****.
Also if you think I need a new CCU and Stereo, thoughts on good pricing or used equipment is VERY much appreciated!
PLEASE HELP!!
THANKS EVERYONE!

The ECON only mode is caused by low A/C refrigerant pressure.
As such, the compressor is prevented from running. The A/C needs to be recharged with R-134A. Sounds like the radio is toast. You can get a factory reman unit in exchange from the dealer for about $220.

Re: The ECON only mode is caused by low A/C refrigerant pressure.
I just had purchased a used CCU on eBay. Obviously a new unit would solve the issue.....HOPEFULLY??
Thanks for your feedback!

Installing a different Climatronic control module /HVAC controller will not fix your issue. ...
The problem is that the refrigerant pressure is too low, there is not enough refrigerant in the system for proper operation, so the controller will not allow the A/C compressor to operate, thus the ECON only function. The A/C refrigerant system must be checked for the cause of the low refrigerant pressure, any leak/s fixed, then the system recharged with the required amount of R-134A refrigerant.
