code P0117 no heat no temp indication
2002 A4 quattro
CEL P0117 which I have had for a while as it would come and go. But it recently got cold and tried the heat no joy I will get a little off the defroster.
Also noticed about the same time to temp indication it is staying at the start point not moving no matter how long I drive, its not that cold!
I took it to a mechanic here(I'm in Italy) he said its an electronic head? (Language barrier)
He pointed to the electronic box in the middle of the fans slightly to the driver side. and said the fans need to be replaced too?
I can't find these parts on line and this does not make sense for this to be the problem, I was thinking a temp sensor.
To make thinks worse drove it home cause he couldn't find the part used, now I it won't idle and barely starts, getting Code 0010 Cam Position Sensor bank 1. Ordered that, but can't drive it to get a second opinion. This second opinion will only be in Italian. So I want a good understanding before I take it to the other shop.
Stationed overseas and have limited mechanics to deal with and limited US parts. Please help.

Update, I got the Cam Position sensor in and it will run now but checked the oil and I got foam. Car will idle now but bog with any touch of the gas, but pull out with enough force only started it twice when the chug and 0010 code came up. Sucks My volvo is acting too rains it pours
