Default Dead Car Update - coolant temperature sensor

So service looked at the car and thought what I thought, that the fuel pump was dead.
This in fact was no the problem.

Apparently there is a coolant temperature sensor on the car which malfunctioned. It thought it was -60 degrees outside which I guess is the miniumum operating temperature for the car and if its that cold, the car will automatically shut down the fuel injectors.

This is a bad thing if you are driving down the road which is what I was doing.

SO no fuel to the engine, no go, dead on the side of the road.

<edit> So they called me and said the car got stuck on the road during a test drive and there must be a short circuit somewhere so back tot he drawing board.

ugh.

Default Re: Dead Car Update - engine cabling

So they think the short circuit is causing a surge which is taking out more than the sensor, also the more significant engine cabling (I forget the exact term he used).

So they are ordering the part. At least in the meantime i have the A6 3.2FSI which is very sweet. Im looking to replace my wifes car, while the A6 is too big for me, that engine in an A4 must be just incredible.

An A4 Avant with the 3.2 is well over $40k so its a stretch!
