Just installed XM radio
Just finished installing XM radio to my car after 5 hours of labor, it was a success. The XM works great and looks awesome. It couldn't look any nicer and except for a couple of painful parts, it went pretty smoothly.
Here are the parts I purchased:
-Pioneer GEX-FM903xm XM Radio Tuner
-Pioneer AN-91XM Digital Satellite Low Profile Antenna
-Pioneer CD-IP601E IP-BUS Extension Cable
-Blitzsafe AUDI/XM DMX ALP V.1B
I installed the XM display into the ashtray like the other posters and it looks great! Almost like they built the thing just for the Audi ashtray. Drilled a hole in the bottom of the ashtray and have no worries. Even when I sell the car, the actual ashtray would cover the hole. Getting the IP/Bus extension out of the car center console in the back was a pain but after some wiggling, it finally got through. Same with getting it past the back door floor paneling to the trunk.
The actual tuner also fits perfectly on the roof of the trunk. I installed the antenna in the back of the inside of my car right before the 3rd brake light. Had the antenna wire run through the rear speaker grate by taking off the grate to the holes in the speaker wells to the trunk.
Blitzsafe works great except for the fact that the wires that power the XM Tuner had to be extended by splicing the wires so that it could connect to the Blitzsafe. No biggie but it would have made sense for Blitsafe to make their part compatible to be plugged into the extension. Otherwise it's great. Just click the CD button twice and XM is on.
Oh yeah, after doing the entire install, the power didn't come on. Was troubleshooting for over an hour and realized that there was a reset button on the tuner. Of course after resetting it, it worked. Must have needed a reset after plugging everything in initially before mounting to make sure everything was working and then unplugging it to install it in the final places.

Re: Just installed XM radio
I didn't take any pics while I was installing but I'll take some pics of the final product of the antenna, display unit and tuner in the trunk and post it tonight.
Yeah, my car is 2003.

cool, i assume you don't have your windows tinted?
esp. the rear? i have the original terk xm2 antenna placed on the roof for now until a really thin one comes along. then i might place it right below the roof along the rear windshield, or place it somewhere on the front windshield. let's see.
i put mine on the roof since i was getting a lot of dropped signals. my rears are really dark at times, and i live in the boonies.

I have 35% metal based tint
I haven't had any dropped signals at all. In fact I was shocked that XM didn't drop in the parking garage at work. I do live in the DC metro area and the parking garage is above ground and open on the sides. But yeah, I notice that the signal goes down a little under some underpasses but doesn't cut out or get weaker in terms of clarity.
