Default Rear suspension not right after jacking!

Hi guys, I jacked up my tt at the weekend to change the haldex oil. Managed to do this with a bit of hassle and a lot of help from the forum. Thanks everybody for that!! On lowering the car i noticed that the suspension did'nt look right. Far too high. It has come down since then after driving but still ai'nt right . One side, also is higher than the other. Has anyone had this happen before and if so any ideas??

I have noticed this as well, but after a little driving, everything settles back where it should be. I have always attributed it to higher than stock break away friction on the shocks due to age, dirt, etc, etc. Are you sure it hasn't settled back to normal?

Hi. Thanks for that. I have not driven it much right enough. Only prob about 10 -15 miles. I'll give it a longer run and see what happens. I hope it comes down level. I was worried incase i had done something wrong!! Fingers crossed.

10 to 15 miles is way more than enough. I was talking about like to the end of the block and back. Sounds like you need to jack that corner and see if there is an issue with the shock, i.e. seal is blown, shock insert is misaligned with the tube, etc.

Hey. Thanks for your help there lyleswk. Suspension is fine. Was just a bit of paranoia on my part there after seeing it so high initially after jacking!! Had that "oh my god, what have i done!" thought. Ta.

I will check since my son is home from college with the car, but is there not enough room to remove a cover, pull the bulb, and replace?

I'd get the service manual for the car if you're going to do any work on it. That said, my son did his without removing the headlight assemblies. Battery came out for driver's side, just covers on passenger side IIRC.

He took out some other stuff this past week as it was clutch replacement time. Did well for being 21. I guess the Lego's, K'nex and working with me on other cars sure paid off. He R&R'd the transmission and clutch without me as I was out of town. I helped a little with the other stuff but mainly as a "CONsultant"!!!!!

Also did the timing belt (noticed a nick in it when we replaced some valve lifters a month ago) and installed Cookbot adapters and different front bushings. The hydraulic press came in handy again.
