Reseting ECU question

How do you reset the ECU and will it do anything to the performance.
I have GIAC 1.2 bar chip on '04 A4.

it could if your Throttle body is out of alignment....but you can have it recalibrate itself without

reseting the ECU.

The reason I'm asking is cause my cousin does it all the time on his SRT4 for longer boost hold.
