Default Yeah, right rear. At the risk of asking a dum question...

How do I know when the fuel pump is dead?
What is the cost of replacement for that?
Thank you!

Default You'll know when the car doesn't start or if you're driving somewhere, it'll just shut

off the engine due to no fuel.

Cost of replacement is about $800-$900, not a cheap item to replace. I'd change the fuel filter asap, easy to do yourself. There is a good tech article here, do a search for it and you'll find it.

FE SS is now considered to be a better choice.

Default i had an issue where i parked my car for a few days..

and had zero boost when i got back to it. it felt like a car that had no transmission engagement, but i have a tiptronic and i knew that was not the issue. with no turbo, our cars feel like 16 wheelers. you mentioned some gradual symptoms, so clutch is definitely suspect--but your description also sounds like a no boost situation as well.

in my case, over the course of troubleshooting the problem solved itself (we think the wastegate was stuck open).
