Default Suggestion on oil change...take in around 7,000

I waited until 7,035 miles to take my A4 1.8 in for an oil change. They ended up doing a 10,000 mile service, without the tire rotation, and I didnt have to pay for it. I noticed that my engine was a little sluggish around 6,000 miles, on acceleration it was not as quick. They didnt put in Synthetic, just plain ole' regular oil, do you normally have to bring your own Synthetic to be put in your car?

Yeah, if you want Synth, you have to bring it yourself

I thought that you can just ask them to put in Mobil 1, but they'll charge you a little for it.

Default You are right. You just have to specify that they use synth. and pay the price difference.

At a scheduled oil change, this will be cheaper than bringing your own. If it's not a scheduled (free) oil change, buying your own oil will be cheaper than buying the dealer's, though.

Default BYOO, at least you KNOW what is going in.

If you have a turbo, I'd use synth.

Default Yeah, but how do you know that they used your oil?? unless you stand there and watch them poor it.

which I doubt anyone does. What is to stop them from keeping your expensive oil and putting that crap they use in your car??????

Default OK, but it would have to be a vast conspiricy, other's in the garage would notice a tech going home

with a brick of SynPower. I don't think it would be tolerated at all. VW Porsche Audi dealership owners are car guys too, (like Al Holbert!!) It just would definately be discouraged. I am on good terms with my dealer. For example, I asked if they had 0-30 M1 for my car, they could have said ..."yeah, I got your zero weight buddy" but truthfully said no, I ran to K-Mart and got zero and was happy. No deceit at all, that's for when they ****-up and have to cover their ***.

Default Not saying that it happens, just a Deep Thought

Unless you watch everything that is done to your car, how do you really know???

That's all, just a thought to ponder.
