Default Sunroof **** BT: any advice on a **** that is starting to fail?...

Sometimes turning the **** gets no action from the sunroof. Turning it to something short of the "comfort position" will usually get it moving, then I can open it the rest of the way. It's always closed for me, I'm crossing my fingers there.

Obviously a known defect here, but I hesitate to take it to the dealer yet for fear I won't be able to replicate the problem, often the **** works just fine. The dealer is out of the way for me to get to. I assume there's nothing I can do about the problem?

If the sunroof gets stuck open someday, is there any manual way to crank it shut? I'm guessing no, but I'm wondering. Thanks.

Default I've had the car about 20 months now, it was about time for this thing to give out...

Crappy switch. I wonder how much this will cost to replace again in a couple years when the warranty has expired.

Default I usually found that when the sunroof starts doing weird stuff it's time for a cleaning...

I get the window open and wipe out all the tracks and try to clean every nook and cranny. Then I hit the tracks with some silicone spray and run the window open/closed a few times to work it in. This usually does the trick and it behaves once more.

Default ok the sunroof was my nightmare

literally for the last 2.5-3 years my sunroof had been flawed... at first it was minor then it evolved to the switch essentially never working and the sunroof closing itself after i finally would get it open.

for the life of me... every time i brought it in to the stealership the problem would not replicate itself so they never fixed it...

until just a month ago the problem actually happened at the dealership and i got a new switch finally

I'm almost inclined not to try the fix Ming02 suggested so that the dealer will see the problem!

If your under warranty just have them look at it, if it is just dirty then they will clean it.
