Default Why doesn't Audi stock parts???

I had an intermittent Check Engine Light that was diagnosed as a faulty high pressure fuel pump. The dealer had to order the pump, which apparently has to come (on a slow boat) from Germany. The car will be in the shop for 7 to 10 days between the wait for the part and the complex task of replacing the pump. I'll be leaving on vacation on Saturday, and we'll now have to drive my wife's Camry. I've been looking forward all year to this road trip on the empty winding roads in western Maine, but didn't expect to be driving the Camry...

Default Strange!

Whenever the dealer had to order a part it came the next day. I would think that the fuel pump would be in stock at either the dealer or a regional warehouse.

Default Why aren't you getting a free loaner car?

If the car is under warranty, demand a free loaner car.

Default Nothing says Audi must give you a loaner car, it is up to the individual dealers themselves to offer

alternate transportation, be it a shuttle, loaner within their own fleet or a car rental counter.

Default They should have offered and if they didn't you should have asked

They'll cover the daily price for the rental but not fuel or additional insurance if they offer a rental.

I had to wait a couple weeks for new carpet to come in from germany for an A4 I had a while back. Due to a bad sterio install the car got flooded during a weekend of heavy rain, the shops insurance payed for the rental for a month and all repair costs. This was understandable though I doubt they fix that many flooded out cars and im sure it was a huge job, but the fuel pump!?!? I actualy had an audi shop give me a free rental for a week for a blown transmission that they weren't even able to cover under warranty because of a big turbo install. Have you asked for a free loaner/rental its pretty bad that something that small will take up to 10 days (wich in reality prolly means 15)...

Default I didn't make myself clear...I have a loaner - a Q7

It only had 40 miles on it when they gave it to me. My dealer is great about loaners. Ordinarilly, that would take the sting out of having my car in the shop. Problem is, my car is scheduled to be done about 3 or 4 days after I leave on vaca and I'll be gone 2 weeks. As good as my dealer is about loaners, they're not going to let me keep the Q for a week and a half after my car is done, just because I'm on vacation...and I don't blame them. So I have to return the Q before I leave and then pick up my car when I get back.
I'm just ticked that it takes so long for something that should not be a major repair. By the way, the Q is one sweet ride.
