Camshaft Sensor/solenoid
I recently purchased my first Audi, 2005 A6 3.2. It is running rough and I'm getting the following readouts. p0341 )camshaft position sensor "A" Circuit Range/performance. P0304, p0305, p0306 Misfire cylinder 4,5,6.
After reading some threads on this site I thought I would try swapping the solenoids from the passanger side on the driver side. When pulling one of the solenoids out, it split apart. Attached photo.
Is this solenoid finished and needs to be replaced?
What is the best way to get the remainder of it out of the head?
I still want to test if it is the solenoids that are the problem but am scared of creating more problems, is there a trick to pulling these out?

Four years too late, but just had this happen right before Easter. Was changing o-rings on these, and one came out in two pieces like this.
I made a small, flat "hook" from some hard steel, and pulled the remains out by the "lip" on the part stuck in the engine. Took some wiggling, since these are tight fitting, but it came out. Won't lie - was panicking a bit.
Since no one answered OP's question the first time around - these are shot if the break apart like that. Didn't look shot, so I tried putting it back together, but the car was NOT happy. Needs replacement if this happens.

Happened to me also a couple of weeks ago. Had to make a small hook thingy that would grab on to the inside of the remaining part and pull it out. I was panicking a bit too
