Just purchased a used 06 A6 Avant. Waiting for the manuals, but finally figured out how to get (and that it had the technology package) the advanced key and bluetooth working. Car has Premium, Technology, Cold Weather packages. Dealer recently gave me a 2013 A6 as a loaner to drive for a couple of days and it had the SD and USB ports behind the screen. Looking at some of the forums, it seems that there is also a SD capability with the earlier 7Q2. Can't find any ports where the DVD player is in dash or back in the left rear quarter. Am I overlooking something or did the 06 not have that yet? I have all my music stored on my PC and would love to take advantage in the car. Any aftermarket alternatives?

your 06 A6 doesn't have an SD card reader, unfortunately. Your options are typically something like a Dension 500 or Xcarlink. Leverage the search function and you'll see a lot of write-ups on these.
