Default Oil Pan gasket @ $108?

Went to STEALER (Champion in Pompano, FL) and they wanted $108 for this part-- can you believe it?

Default Well you're driving a $70,000 German Luxury Sedan......

If you can afford that, you can afford the gasket
Still, just buy it here instead for about $27.<ul><li><a href="http://www.europeanautomotive.com/index-exec/">Click</a></li></ul>

Default The people behind the counter just shake their heads..

when people pay these crazy "retail" prices. The fact of the matter is that when you are driving a fancy car you have more or less pasted the crosshairs onto your forehead as far as dealer parts and service go. Ask for a big discount from the parts manager. The worst you will hear is no. Shop the internet sources, even then there will be a lot of variation.

I have an in-writing deal (the only real kind)with a local fancy car dealer (other than Audi in this case)for parts discounts, $240/159 (bearing assembly) and $17/7 were two recent parts I bought. Negotiated during new car deal.

I did this about 6 months ago and I think it's just RTV - don't recall getting a gasket

Default Bentley's says it's RTV

I'm planning to do mine, now I wonder if a "real" gasket would be worthwhile. OTOH, it's a "real" gasket that's leaking, so there's not much point in going *that* route, is there?

Default I removed the bottom oil pan last fall too, and I put a gasket back on. ETKA says part #

077 103 610 C. There is also an upper oil gasket.

Default That's what I thought.. maybe it depends on the year ? I have a 2000 and don't even have any

seepage with just RTV.

Correct, pre-facelift 97-99 has gaskets, post facelift 00-03 use silicone sealant on the oil pan
