A rebuild kit for your compressor is about $40. I would do that first.

Actually that would be the last. First is to find the leak. If there is no leak front end wouldn't be low and compressor wouldn't be week.

I'd suggest you do a VCDS scan to determine if you have a " leak in system detected" code or only the compressor's "reached temp upper limit" because it is struggling to build pressure.
That is my assessment as well. Rebuild the compressor and see if that helps. It is likely overdue anyway so you might as well start there. I rebuilt mine and it made a huge difference. Overtemp codes are now non-existent, the warning lights don't linger on and the system is now very responsive.

Greetings from Singapore, (A8 D3/4E Year 2008)

i noticed that recently both front suspension are low after parking it overnight. i did some reading from this thread and a few others plus the pdf file on how the air suspension works. below are the symptoms and what i've done so far with no luck finding the root cause. i'm open to suggestions. btw both front struts were replaced with new ones about a year ago.

thank you in advance.

the symptoms,
- both front suspension low after parking overnight
- upon starting the car, the green low light is ON but will extinguish after starting the car & suspension level will go to normal height
- no abnormal noise coming from the air compressor mentioned in the thread

what i have done so far
1) Leak check on the connectors going to both the front struts and G291 control valve. no leak found.
2) Partial leak check on the green & white tubes connected to the front struts and G291 control valve, no leak found.

Next step i'm going to do;
1) ordered air compressor pump seal repair kit from bagpipingandy.
2) replace the relay

below are the fault codes
3 Faults Found:
01577 - Turn-Off due to Over-Temp
001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Most often a leaky strut is to blame with your symptoms. They can be hard to find. Put the car in jack mode when you park it overnight, and see which side drops the most to determine which strut it is.

You have a leak. Nobody can find it online for you. Overheating compressor is just because it works overtime. You will burn it soon. Relay and rebuild won't cure the leak. So back to struts. New or refurbished? Left or right first to go low?

Thanks mishar & jack88.

Put it on jack mode last night & found both very low this morning. The right side went all the way down compared to the left. I'm surprised that these new struts were good for only 1year. My workshop worked on the upper arms, bushings and c links replacement last month, then the error for the leak came up early this month, Does anyone have a picture of the orientation for the right tube that is connected to the struts?
I want to do another the leak check before ordering a new set of struts. Should i opt for new or refurbished struts? My car is good for another 2.5 yrs before it need to head to the junk yard or exported out of the country.

I love the torque. Still a happy camper, but looking at a tune. Trying to find out which one is least likely to cause me other problems. Kleeman? Renntech? Speedriven? ECS? Brabus was my first choice, until I found out they wanted $9500 for it. Eurocharged is cheapest but claims the least gains, and problems on the 55AMG's leads me to believe it wouldn't be as polished as I'd like. Or do I leave it alone and make do with the 600 lb/ft. Either way, if you pick up a CL65, it'd be nice to line them up and see how much of a difference there is.

I know all that doesn't relate to the most recent poster with a problem, but I think at this point all the help and information you need can be found earlier in the thread, Ismace. It would seem the issue is with the right strut or associated components. I don't believe in coincidence, so it's possible the shop damaged your strut or did not reassemble everything properly.

is there an 'O' ring for the Green/White tube connectors to the struts?
