Well done! And you could make it without removing the windshield? I'm wondering because in the official AUDI repair manual says so (see screenshot unfortunately in German only).
I'm sorry but I did not found the security login code of the HUD (not even in the German Motortalk thread about VCDS).

Update: in Motortalk someone answered my posted question. He is not certain but says: Try "40168" or "41068" or "20103" or "20113". If the security cut-off time is active, wait 10 minutes before retry (battery charger!). Good luck!

To prevent the dashboard from being damaged by HUD removal, you can bring the dasboard a little forward, you have to remove the tacho and remove some screws behind it plus 4 additional screws plus removal of the A-pillar trim. (5-10 minutes job).
Once the dashboard (at the drivers side) is moved 3-6 cm forward, then the removao of the HUD becomes somewhat easier and you have no chance of damage the dashboard.

Thank you for the security login code!
I will try this afternoon to open the callebration menu.

Thanks for this explanation. I do not fully understand: you moved the dashboard 3-6 cm FORWARD - meaning closer to the windshield?

Anyway, I'm very keen to see the result of the calibrated HUD-symbols in the windshield of your A8! Hope, they will be projected perfectly focused and not distorted!

No, he means pull it out in your direction (towards you / zu dir), 3-6 cm far from the windshield.

Sorry, I wrote forward, but meant backwards, away from the windshield.

Hi all, I am very VERY impressed with taking a chance on the A6 HUD - did you get more options in the HUD MMI page to be able to select what is displayed such as ACC. What part number did you use? I am going to follow your lead!

Hi Wanman,

No guts, no glory, right?

I took this A6 HUD: 4G0 919 604 M

All below options can be displayed:
  • Speed
  • Traffic signs
  • Navigation
  • Lane assist
  • Night vision
  • ACC symbols (like below) + [* temporary] *speed setting / *modus setting

@mmi.drachten And how is the icon quality after calibration? Are all icons well focused and without any distortion? Did you build in a used A6 HUD or a new one? May I ask, how much did you pay for it? The new ones are quite expensive, I think around $2'300.-, right?
