Default Q8 Loaner

Took my 17 A8 in for the fuel rail safety recall. That gave me a Q8 loaner and due to a parts snafu I kept the Q over a weekend. Really enjoyed it. But, what's odd is I'm totally jonesing for the wireless charging pad in the center arm rest. Looking for a retro fit for the A8. Any thoughts?

This is serious?

Just order a regular wireless charger and fit it in the center console.
2 wires, positive and ground. 2 options : Removable, use the cig lighter socket or permanent, by tapping the wires from the cig lighter...
It will turn on and off the same way the cig light is.

Haha, thanks. Thought there might be an accessory specific for the A8. Guess I'll make due with your suggestion.

If you want to make it OEM like, you'll have to remove the center console to get access to the bottom of the storage box.
You'll then be able to stick the charging pad on it easily.
Neat and transparent.

I don't have a phone with this feature so I didn't attempt it.
But please do it, and post a DIY tuto, you'll be the very first I guess

Correction, you don't have to remove the center console at all in fact.
Just open the center armrest, and pry out the surrounding bezel.
You'll find 3 screws to remove and voila

15 min job

Going to run it like this as I am reluctant to give up the limited amount of space in the armrest. If the phone charges and doesn't fly off during cornering I'll probably hardwire it.

Great placement. I'm going to try that!

Don’t know but some versions are coming with deeper storage box in the center console.
Part is 4H0863075N

Maybe on cars without rear center vents?
I checked on mine, it won’t fit.
