Default Will APR stage 2 pass California smog tests on my 2015 S8?

I just purchased APR downpipes and before install was started I was told my car will not pass CA smog tests because the O2 sensors have been deleted out of the APR stage 2 tune. I have never read anything about this on this forum after reading most all APR stage 2 posts. I was told that my downpipes would have to be swapped out every two years for each smog test. This downpipe change is a big job and risk of damaging other car parts is high. Anyone know any good info on this issue?

Call or email APR. They will be the best source of information in this. The downpipes have high flow catalytic converters and O2 sensors, I don’t see why it wouldn’t pass.

First CA check is not for 6 years, then every two years thereafter. So you have another 2+ years for starters. CA is a visual + OBDII readiness codes scan approach. Might get past a visual since typical gas station jock may not get it, but no idea if you have codes or how APR s/w reads on the smog machines. If you end up at a bend over inspection only place (per your renewal paperwork), even visual may get tougher.

So how does it run with the APR Stage 2 parts installed. I now have a 2016 S8+ and I was told the APR stuff makes a stock S8 run like the S8+ but if you have the plus there is not much more to gain. Is that true

I would say yes, or rather any final numbers will be same as a pre-plus S8. S8 plus is basically just a further mild factory tune, so less incremental gain relative to step up from pre-plus S8. No known factory parts changes like turbos, compression ratio, intercooler/charge cooler related items etc. to account for the change. Audi has been vague on any actual changes, making it all the more likely to me it was just a factory tune tweak. It is also possible a redline tweak has something to do with it, since max HP is often at redline. Redline varies among the various 4.0T motors, and higher in turn on RS7's from other posts I have seen on general subject.

Well I already did all the Stage 2 upgrade last week - I plan to AWD dyno test it Feb 5th - we will see. I will send the sound files as well. I did not finish the job yet
