all of a sudden my 5000tq started to idle at like 3000 rpm and it was just running the best it has been in a while. but it idlews that high even when it is warm so it cant be the iac... so anyone have any ideas?

See if you can disconnect the bypass at the throttle plate. If so it will idle very slow. You have unintended exceleration!!! There is a small module under the dash that has a bad resistor and needs to be fixed or replaced. The automatics had a different part from the 5sp. I had this happen on an 84 5000 a long time ago. Sorry I cant remember the name of the little unit, but it just unplugs.

My bad I did not notice you had a TQ. My 84 was NA.

sounds like the full throttle/idle switch is bad or wiring to it.

I had the same issue on my 5k in the past, disconnected the ISV and it idled normally
