guys without cats
stock resonator (center muffler) muffling enough? Anyone add an additional resonator? I am redoing my exhaust and am gonna remove my cats, but I wanna know if running the stock center muffler will be sufficient to block the rumble and grumble. I am also going with a Magnaflow rear muffler.

I'm running that setup right now...
no cats, stock rear resonators, and a magnaflow SS rear muffler. Sounds outstanding except when you remove the cats you get a rasp if you slowly climb the rpms through 1800-2300rpm. Super clean sounding setup though. I've been meaning to get a vid clip of the new system but haven't had the time to go do it. Soon though...

runing a 2.8 without a resonator is just simply not doable...
when left in you can do virtually anything you want fore & aft of it with slightly louder/quieter/different sound results. I've tried this with over $2k spent in tryting to quiet it to no avail. I've run single, double and triple inline torpedos, cans & straight-thrus made by Magnaflow, Super Flow, Borla, Hush Power and FlowMaster with & without rear mufflers. All are fine with resonator. Pull the resonator and all are too loud. The 12V is the first car in dozens & dozens I couldn't make acceptably quiet without its stock resonator. Leave the resonator in and you can run literally anything else or nothing else. But take heart in knowing its stock center resonator will flow sufficient gases to not only make but sustain 320HP. Then a 4.2 resonator is only slightly louder and will sustain 375-380HP without a flow depression. But forget any of the turbo resonators as again they are deafening on a N/A car. BTDT too!
You can remove, replace about EVERY damn commponet in the system... 'cept the resonator.
Tons and tons about this and my trials, experiments and efforts at trhe 12V forum. I run a stock resonator on my car now and have a 4.2 litre one to use with the new engine.

Re: guys without cats
I just did mine over-93 90cs-5sp. I used catco high flow cats into Vibrant 1791 resonators-into the stock muffler. Car runs 1000x better, sounds perfect-a little rip when you gas it, but quiet at idle. Highly rec. this system.
