What Would You Do?
Hey, I'm WasGTI, I've had an A4 for the last 3 years and I have a 24 Prestige S5 in District Green Metallic on order.
Problem is it's sitting in the port in Houston and has been there since January 8th. On January 16th, it was placed on "quality hold" and as of today (2/8/24) it still is per my SA. I've been digging around and have found there's a hold on a bunch of Porsche models for some chip, but no one has definitely said whether or not this affects Audi or VW models. Jalopnik had an article on it and only ever mentions Porsche: https://jalopnik.com/porsche-cant-se...-no-1851235453
As of today, my SA said he does not have a reason for the hold of my car, and doesn't have any other useful information on timelines. I've also had to extend my A4 lease by a month 2 times. I currently have until the 26th of February to either give it back, buy it out, or extend it again.
Here's the question: How long do I wait for my perfect spec car before I just say **** it and go buy a boring gray one that may or may not have the options I want?

I just put it in yesterday, so too early to tell. Was told end of May or June. When I ordered my '21 Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS, it was delivered to me w/o a chip to adjust the wheel. Then once the chip was avail, the dealer installed it. Not sure why yours would be held, unless something critical is lacking. Also, one month @ Port isn't really that bad, in all my past experiences

Interesting. I'd certainly prefer have a car in hand, even if it needed something installed after a month or two.
Word on the street over at Rennlist is that they're now putting the non-sanctioned computer chips into the cars currently being built so who knows, maybe you and I will get our cars at the same time!
