Default 2016 A5 Cab Trunk

Does anyone know why my A5 Cab trunk will only open with me standing behind it with the ignition off. Audi configured it this way, but for the life of me, I can't figure their rationale. Something about exhaust fumes maybe?

So, you just stand behind your car and the trunk opens up? Or, did you need to press the trunk opener (either through the key fob or on the trunk lid) to do it?

The trunk will only open with the ignition off and with either the trunk release on the trunk itself or with the key fob trunk release button. My point is that there is no in-cabin release mechanism and no way to open the trunk if the engine is running. I've never had this situation on any other convertible I've owned and I'm just curious as to why Audi decided to make trunk access so restrictive. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Oh, I see what you mean. How about the in-cabin trunk opener switch on the driver side door? Have you tried it when the engine is running? Mine works. I drive a FL S5. Your car should have that same switch.

Doesn't exist on the Cab.

I vaguely remember a similar annoyance and fixed it by Carista or MMI setting. But I'll check my '13 cab tonight.

Verified - Two possibilities. 1) setting in MMI vehicle settings regarding trunk lock behavior - set to OFF. 2) Valet switch in glove box is ON, need to turn OFF. Either of these will prevent popping the trunk whilst ignition on/running.

WOW, Thanks! The MMI change did the trick! I can now unload stuff with the best of them.
