2018 A5 Sportsback ligher steering vs A5 Coupe
I tested drive 2018 A5 coupe vs 2018 A5 Sportsback. Both stock without the S-Line or Sports suspension however the A5 Sportsback steering seem lighter even on high speed? There appears to be abit more roll? I am debating which to get I like the SB better for looks but steering concerns me. Anyone experience the steering difference?

Did they have the same wheel and tire sizes? The 19" Wheels come with wider tires and are slightly heavier, so that will impact steering feel considerably, suspension doesn't really have much to do with it. Also, I'm assuming they both had the same steering feel settings on Drive Select.

The main difference is that the coupé has a shorter wheelbase than the Sportback (which has the same wheelbase as an A4), and it does affect road feel. All of the Sportback's additional weight is towards the rear, so it actually has better weight distribution. But these differences were only apparent to me when the cars were being pushed very hard, and not in normal driving. And I was comparing S5 models, and both had the Dynamic steering option. Personally, I slightly preferred the more lively feel of the coupé's shorter wheelbase, but I have read a few reviews that expressed the view the coupé felt less stable. Same has been reported on RS5 coupé vs RS4.
The two models have identical components, and the same suspension and steering geometry AFAIK. The cars need to be on identical tyres (brand and size), recommended light load tyre pressures (the Sportback may be 1 or 2 psi higher), same external temperatures, similar rolling tyre temperatures to rule out any influence from the tyres themselves. Whilst you said neither car was S Line / on Sports suspension, if either/both were using adaptive suspension then that dynamically affects roll stiffness depending on road conditions. I'd test them again, making sure variables are eliminated, and then buy the one you like driving best if other factors are less important, such as body style and utility.
