Hi all,

I’m new on this forum but was wondering...

Any other folks on this forum that have the same issue?

On my end, I bought the car 10 days ago and out of these 10 days, 6-7 of them I did not have access to the boost. Outside temp in Canada here is -5 (Celsius) to -15 degrees. So coldish but not crazy Antarctica cold temps. Drove the car anywhere from 15 mins to over 2 hours and never got the boost option available. Battery is always charged from 60% to full charge. Funny thing, two days ago, after driving for 45 mins with no boost, boost came on and off suddenly for about 1 minute... Meaning boost was showing as available for 2-3 secs than off.. than back on 2-3 sec and off... Finally settled after about a minute to stay on for 10 mins and then disappeared once again to never come back the entire trip.

I bought this SUV mainly because of the boost option so now that it seems its not available, i feel this car is NOT was i paid for...

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Are you driving in Sport mode? If not, boost will not be available.

If you are, might be some issues with battery cells and a visit to Audi Service would be in order.

Oh I can relate with that..

Boost always works for me though, and I drive with it boost (or S) exclusively.

I'm in the Portland, OR, area US. Temps a little warmer this time of year than what you get. I haven't played around a lot with driving Modes and Programs, etc. I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "boost not showing up" or briefly showing up. Are you saying when you do a double pull-back on the gear selector (flicking in the D direction as opposed to the R direction) to put the car into the S PROGRAM (boost) the extra-thick red bar does not show up (indicating extended capacity) --or that it shows up and disappears-- and that the S does not show up in the cockpit display? (The car has 4 DRIVE PROGRAMS: R,N,D,S(boost). After starting the car, have you tried using the DRIVE SELECT button to switch to either the DYNAMIC or OFFROAD Driving MODES? When you select either of those modes, the S (Boost) Program is supposed to be the default initial selection.

For me, all I have to do is do the extra click on the gear shift towards D and the S Program shows up, ready to use.

I am driving in “S” Sport mode but no boost showing... sometime if I am lucky it shows up for few seconds than disappear. I tried all different driving mode and each of them putting it “S” Sport mode to have access to the boost except the “effeciency” mode and nothing works for me. That darn boost mode is most of the time, about 75%, not available.

With the price tag on this car, if Audi sell and advertise a car with a boost mode, I expect that mode to be available whenever I want. I honestly could understand it would not be available if it”s -40 degree Celsius outside to preserve the battery or whatever but I am far from that point...

So for all of you guys here, boost is always available ? [up to 8 secs I know]. As soon as you start the car? Anybody living in cold area and still have the boost available ?

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to answer.... So to clarify, YES I tap down the shifter **** to have access to the “S” mode which would normally light up the extra red power line (past 100%) and also show up word “BOOST” to confirm that the car battery is extended and should provide more power.

The car will show the “S” mode but no additional power or boost and nothing lighting up in the dash to confirm boost mode. The maximum power remain at 100%.

Ya, boost is always available here. I second the comment to take it in and it may be something with the battery pack.

I can activate Boost the moment I turn on the car. I drive with it exclusively since I like the throttle response way better. Only time it was gray out was when I first turned it on at 34F weather. It came on within a minute after I started driving.
Sounds like you may have a problem with the car.
I understand if they limit it when the battery is cold but it should not act like that.

If the S is showing up, and you try accelerating, do you feel that extra power? This could either be a simple display problem, or a more complicated battery problem. Something is definitely not right!

Are you in a cold environment?

If the battery is cold, Boost won't be available until the battery warms up, even in S mode. I notice that this starts happening around -8 to -10C or below.

If the car is warm and / or parked inside, Boost is always available.

If ambient temps are reasonable and the battery temp is reasonable and the car is in S mode, Boost SHOULD be available. If it's not, you need to get something checked out and it could be a faulty cell / pack as calbear92 mentioned in an earlier post.
