Ordered cars are almost always less expensive than a car on the lot. If you order a car and pick it up within a few days of its arrival at the dealership the dealer's financing costs are practically nil. The longer a car is on the lot the MORE expensive it becomes for the dealer. An ordered car has "more room" to be discounted. Of course, there are exceptions -- there was a nicely equipped 2018 A6 on the showroom floor next to a similarly equipped, similarly priced 2019 A6. Due to the residual (meaning the 2018 is higher in cost to lease) on the 2018 among other factors, the 2018 was offered (before negotiation) at $9,995 off. Offers pretty well north of that are not atypical for such cars. One gentleman saw a Prestige S6 (2018) and the negotiations started at $14,000 off. Had those cars been ordered months earlier, it is unlikely the price would have been similarly discounted, especially if they arrived before the 2019s were on the showroom floor.
The 19’ A6 has the updated interior so don’t be surprised discounts are higher on the 18s. Two dealers in my area still have 30+ left over 18 A6’s. Buyers should be starting negotiations at 15% below MSRP.

Speaking of dealer inventory, here's a screenshot of my dealer's current 2019 inventory. It is very clear they expect to move more Q7s than Q8s. (72 Q7 vs 10 Q8. This indicates to me that they have slotted the Q8 as more of a niche vehicle than a mainstay.)

Look at the A8 allocations on that list: 4. I don’t even see any R8’s allocated. Any Audi with an “8” to its name hasn’t ever been a vehicle for the masses, and that’s ok with me. Exclusivity is a thing. Wouldn’t expect the Q8 to be any different.

I don't like the 3 vents either, and I think the rear end is different for the sake of being different...it doesn't really improve the look for me in any way. That's part of the reason why I picked up a 2018 2 weeks ago...generally I like the newest thing, but not this go around.
FYI my dealer has EVERY vehicle in inventory listed for sale at 10% off, including he R8 V10 Plus, a loaded RS5 and all Q8s in stock. I got my R8 more than 10% off and way under invoice price. Seems many markets are giving cars away.
