Hi All, I just purchased a used 2011 Q7 and to my astonishment - the bluetooth only works for phone calls and not streaming audio. Never would have imagined that in my wildest dreams! Anyway, I'm researching options to get this working because I basically only listen to streaming music from my phone.

From what I've read, there are aftermarket devices you can plug into the dongle in the glove box. However, that is less than desirable because the phone can only connect to one BT device at a time so you either get music OR phone and you have to switch your connection back and forth. Let me know if misunderstood that.

But what I'm really trying to figure out is if there is a firmware or software update to the MMI that enables the BT audio. And if there is how do you get a hold of it without going to the dealer and paying hundreds of dollars for an upgrade. I work in IT so I'm fairly confident I could do it if I could find the software and if I knew it would enable BT audio.

I'm sure the answers are probably in this forum somewhere but when I search I'm getting some pretty old results back to 2010 so that's not so helpful. Any information you can provide would be great.

If you're confident that you can do this, I recommend to this for less than $500. You can have Apple CarPlay, Apple Mirror, latest GPS, 4K movies, and more. You will have a blast with Android open source.
