Currency difference being acknowledged
So talking with my local Porsche/Audi sales guy and he tells me that Porsche will be reducing the msrp on their cars by $10k next year to better reflect the $.90+ Loonie.
I was sniffing at a Cayman S and he advised to hold off for a while. He hasnt heard if Audi will be doing the same, but is indicating that the strong $ is beginning to bite them.
Anyone add to this?

Old yes, but very significant...
I can write about this issue for hours. But if there's a $10k difference in the price of a $45k Audi, why wouldn't people look to import from the US? The OEMs should recognize this and react accordingly. Some (ie. Honda, Chrysler, etc.) deal with it by refusing to honour warranty, etc. I think that's the wrong way to deal with it. The right way is to adjust pricing. Glad to see Porsche recognize this.

Old subject not really...current subject
Not really, I know there has been lots of discussion regarding the differences in msrp between the US and Canada, however this is the 1st time I have heard of a major manufacturer making significant changes to better reflect this.
So I'm sorry that you felt you had to point this out, but to those of us not in the 'business' its significant.
Let me give you your click back.

I'm not aware of manufacturers adjusting prices previously either
Porsche is the first I've heard and others need to follow suit if they want people to support Canadian dealers. I just took delivery of a 2008 Porsche that I had ordered in June. At that time, there was no word of what would happen to 2008 pricing. It went up in the US so the drop here was a pleasant surprise.

Funny thing is...
That the CAD vs. EURO virtually hasn't moved in the past five years, while the USD vs. EURO has devalued quite a bit. As such, assuming that Audi HQ has a Euro-based price, the cars should be considerably more expensive in the US. It's all a market price issue. They sell for whatever they can get.
But hopefully you got some benefit several years ago when the rate was 1.60 and there were record #'s of people importing from Canada-US?

Canada is probably the only country that has so many demands...
tumors on TTs, DRLs, no LED lights on S6/S8, and list goes on, and this is from a country that only represents 1% of Audi sales world wide. We sell less cars in Canada than California.
We are not happy about the price of the cars when compared to the US, how do you think Germans feel when the cars that are built in their own country are close to twice the price of what it sells in the US?
