Default Question for electronics guru's

In my allroad, I removed the relay for my power steering assist -- I, and many others thinks it gives too much assistance. It made a huge difference, but I recently went to bigger wheels and wider tires and you really have to fight the wheel at slow speeds, but at speed, it's great.

So my question is this -- how hard would it be to toggle this relay on and off via a dash switch?

Default it would be easy. the simplest way would to be to mod the relay itself.

so you dont impact the factory wiring. the covers on the relays pop off with some effort.

im guessing you'd desolder one end of the coil loop, and add the switch circuit.

i did this for a fan mod on my A4:

Default Thx -- I might be able to handle that

The relay is sitting in my glovebox, surgery to begin soon.

Default be aware, some people call control modules 'relays'...so it may be more complicated thant you think.

the other method would be cutting the factory wiring and splicing in a switch.

good luck!
