Are you sure you want your intake that low?
I had a cold air intake on another car that low and was always worried I was going to go through a big rain puddle and get hydrolock. Never happened, but I have seen a few less fortunate souls.

You tawkin ta me?
I had thought about it, briefly. I'm not sure how much water it would take to hydro-lock a motor, but a few splashes shouldn't hurt it.
AEM makes an air bypass valve that goes on the intake pipe, which is supposed to prevent hydro-lock.
As long as I stay away from 2 foot deep puddles, I should be all right

Sure, IF you can keep the stock plumbing layout.....
but there was no way I could.
Plus the airbox takes up a lot of space, that could be used for other things (crankcase breather for example)

Re: You tawkin ta me?
I think it would just take one good gulp. Heck one time a puddle that was less than a foot took of the power steering belt from a minivan I was driving. After all the hard work at least get the AEM bypass valve. I don't know where you live, but up hear in MA there are a lot of potholes and various other things that I've come upon that I had no room for avoidance and had to grit my teeth for the impact. You don't want one of those to be a puddle. I was amazed that simple old water can bend and snap a metal connecting rod.
